SSC Photo & Signature Requirements

SSC (Staff Selection Commission) has strict file size requirements for online applications across CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD, and other exams. Standard SSC requirements: • Photo: JPG/JPEG format, 20–50 KB • Signature: JPG/JPEG format, 10–20 KB • Photo dimensions: typically around 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm • Background: light/white preferred This tool is set to 50 KB, the upper limit for SSC photos. After compressing, simply upload to the SSC portal and your photo will be accepted on the first try. For your signature (10–20 KB), use our dedicated signature compressor. All processing happens in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device. That matters when you're handling personal documents for government applications.

What photo and signature size does SSC require?

SSC online applications (CGL, CHSL, MTS and others) need a JPG photo of 20 to 50 KB and a signature of 10 to 20 KB. This tool compresses your photo to 50 KB in the browser; compress the signature separately at 10 to 20 KB.

Frequently asked questions

What size should my SSC photo be?
Between 20 KB and 50 KB in JPG format. This tool is preset to 50 KB which works for all SSC exams.
What about my SSC signature?
Signatures need to be 10–20 KB. Use our 20 KB compressor for signatures specifically.
Will SSC reject my compressed photo?
Only if it's outside the 20-50 KB range or wrong format. Our tool ensures it's the right size and format. As long as the photo dimensions and content meet SSC's other rules, it'll be accepted.
Can I use my mobile phone photo directly?
Yes. Upload your phone photo and we'll compress it to the right size. If it's HEIC format, switch your camera to 'Most Compatible' first (Settings → Camera → Formats).
Do you store my photo?
No. Everything happens in your browser. We don't see or save your image (we couldn't even if we wanted to).
Will the photo quality be good enough?
Yes. 50 KB is more than enough for an SSC-sized photo to look sharp. The compression is barely noticeable at standard form-photo dimensions.
