The service

PDF & Image Tools provides free, browser-based tools to compress, convert, edit, and remove backgrounds from PDFs and images. All processing happens locally in your browser. The service is provided free of charge and on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

In these terms, "PDF & Image Tools", "we", "us", and "our" mean Swathik, the independent solo developer (a sole proprietor) based in India who operates this site, and "you" means the person using the site.

Eligibility

This site is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. If you are under 18, please use the tools only under the supervision of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly enter into agreements with, or direct advertising at, anyone we know to be under 18.

Your files and content

You keep all rights to the files you process. Because everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded, we never receive, store, or claim any rights over your files. You are responsible for the files you choose to process and for ensuring you have the right to use them.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the tools for any unlawful purpose or to process content you have no right to use.
• Attempt to disrupt, attack, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure, or reverse-engineer the site, except to the limited extent that applicable law gives you a non-excludable right to do so (for example, to study how a tool works, or for interoperability).
• Resell, rebrand, or pass the service off as your own.

Free service and advertising

The tools are free to use. To keep them free, the site may in future display advertising served by third-party partners. Any advertising cookies those partners use are non-essential and are set only if you opt in through our cookie banner, as described in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. Using the site does not by itself grant consent to advertising cookies. Your files are never shared with advertisers and never leave your device.

Availability and changes to the service

The tools are provided free and may change. We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue any tool or the whole service at any time, and we may block access where we reasonably believe these terms are being breached or the site is being attacked. Because your files are processed in your browser and are not stored on our servers, doing this does not affect any of your files, which remain on your device. Where we permanently discontinue the service, we will give reasonable notice where practicable.

Intellectual property

The site's original design, brand, and our own code and content (other than your own files) belong to us. The site also includes third-party open-source software, which remains the property of its respective authors and is provided to you under its own open-source license (for example MIT, Apache-2.0, and ISC). Aside from those open-source components and your own files (which never leave your device), you may not copy or reuse our materials without permission.

No warranty

The service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will meet your requirements. Always keep your own backup of important files.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any mandatory consumer-protection liability you have under the law of your country of residence. Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Because all processing happens in your browser and we never receive or store your files, we cannot access or recover them, so please keep your own backups of important files.

Governing law

The service is offered worldwide and is not directed at any single country, and you are responsible for complying with the laws of your own country or region when you use it. These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and the courts of India will have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence, and nothing in these terms removes any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your own country of residence.

Severability

If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will stay in full effect. The invalid provision will be applied to the greatest extent permitted by law, or treated as removed if that is not possible.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new date above, and for significant changes we will show a notice on the site. Changes apply only going forward from the date they are posted and do not apply retroactively. If you continue to use the site after a change takes effect, your continued use is subject to the updated terms; if you do not agree to a change, please stop using the site.
