Print photo sizes in pixels (4×6, 5×7, 8×10)

Print labs and home printers work in inches, but your photo is measured in pixels. To get a sharp print, you need enough pixels for the paper size at 300 DPI (dots per inch), the resolution that looks crisp in a hand-held print. Too few pixels and the print looks soft or blocky. Standard print sizes at 300 DPI: • 4 × 6 in: 1200 × 1800 px (the most common photo print) • 5 × 7 in: 1500 × 2100 px • 8 × 10 in: 2400 × 3000 px • 3.5 × 5 in: 1050 × 1500 px How to use this page: • Pick your size from the quick buttons, then choose portrait or landscape • "Fill" crops your photo to fill the whole print with no white border, which is what most labs do anyway; "Fit" keeps the entire photo and adds a white margin • Start from the highest-resolution original you have so the print stays sharp

What size is a 4x6 photo in pixels?

A 4 × 6 inch photo is 1200 × 1800 pixels at 300 DPI, the standard most print labs expect. At 150 DPI it is 600 × 900 px. This tool resizes any photo to 4 × 6 (and 5 × 7 or 8 × 10) print dimensions in your browser, with nothing uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

What is the pixel size of a 4x6 photo?
1200 × 1800 px at 300 DPI. That is the standard most print labs expect for a sharp 4 × 6 inch print.
What DPI do I need for printing?
300 DPI is the standard for sharp photo prints. The sizes here are all set at 300 DPI, so a 4 × 6 is 1200 × 1800 px, a 5 × 7 is 1500 × 2100 px, and an 8 × 10 is 2400 × 3000 px.
Should I crop or fit my photo for printing?
Print labs usually crop a photo to fill the paper, so 'Fill' matches what they do and leaves no white border. Choose 'Fit' if you want to keep the whole photo with a white margin instead.
Can I print in landscape?
Yes. Use the 1800 × 1200 quick size for a landscape 4 × 6, or type your own width and height under 'Adjust'.
Why might my print look blurry?
If the original photo has fewer pixels than the print needs, enlarging it can look soft. Start from the largest version of the photo you have for the sharpest result.
Is my photo private?
Yes. The resize happens entirely in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded or stored.
