JPEG and JPG are the same format

If you have a .jpeg file and a tool that mentions .jpg, you are not missing anything: JPEG and JPG are the same image format with two spellings of the extension. The name comes from the Joint Photographic Experts Group, which is where "JPEG" originates. Older Windows versions only allowed three-letter extensions, so ".jpeg" was shortened to ".jpg", and both versions stuck. Your phone, camera, or download might use either one. That means turning a JPEG into a PDF is exactly the same job as turning a JPG into a PDF. Your .jpeg images are placed straight into the document with no quality loss, one image per page, in the order you choose. You can fit each page to the image or use a standard A4 or Letter size with the margins and orientation you want. Everything happens in your browser. Your photos are read, combined, and saved on your own device, and nothing is ever uploaded.

Is JPEG to PDF the same as JPG to PDF?

Yes. JPEG and JPG are two names for the exact same image format, so converting a .jpeg file to PDF works identically to converting a .jpg. Add your JPEG photos, set the page size and order, and save one PDF. It all runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between JPEG and JPG?
There is no difference in the image itself. JPEG and JPG are the same format; the only reason you see two spellings is that older Windows systems limited file extensions to three letters, so .jpeg became .jpg. Both open and convert the same way.
Why is my file called .jpeg instead of .jpg?
Some cameras, apps, and websites save with the longer .jpeg extension while others use .jpg. They are interchangeable, so a .jpeg file converts to PDF with no extra steps.
Will my JPEG lose quality when it becomes a PDF?
No. JPEG and JPG images are embedded into the PDF exactly as they are, with no re-compression, so each page looks identical to the original photo.
Can I combine several JPEG files into one PDF?
Yes. Each image becomes its own page, and you can drag the pages into any order before you create the file.
Can I mix .jpeg with .jpg, PNG, or HEIC files?
Yes. You can add any mix of image formats and they will all go into the same PDF. Image to PDF
Already have .jpg files instead?
It makes no difference which extension you have. If your files end in .jpg, you can start from the JPG to PDF page; it uses exactly the same tool. JPG to PDF
