Meme Generator

Why use a meme generator?

A meme is mostly about getting the caption right and the look instantly recognisable. The classic format is bold white text with a black outline, top and bottom, in the Impact style everyone knows. This tool gives you that look in a couple of clicks on your own image, with no app to install and no account to make. Upload a picture, type a top line and a bottom line, and they appear in the classic all-caps meme style straight away. Tweak it if you want: change the font, the size, the fill and outline colours and the outline thickness, turn all-caps off, or drag a caption to reposition it. When it looks right, save it as JPG, PNG or WebP. Your image is captioned right in your browser and never uploaded, so a private joke stays private. Bring your own picture; there's no template gallery here, just your image and the words you put on it.

How do I make a meme online for free?

Upload your own picture, type a top line and a bottom line, and they appear in the classic bold all-caps Impact style (you can change the font, the fill and outline colours, and the outline width), then save as JPG, PNG or WebP. It all happens in your browser, so the image is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get the classic Impact meme look?
Yes. Captions default to bold, all-caps, white text with a black outline, the look most memes use. You can switch the font, change the fill and outline colours and the outline width, or turn off all-caps for a different style.
Can I caption my own photo?
Yes, and you will: you upload your own image, then add the text. There's no built-in template library or stock-image search, so any picture works, including your own photos and screenshots.
How much text can I add?
A top caption and a bottom caption, each of which can run over several lines. You can drag, resize and rotate either one, but it's the classic two-slot format rather than unlimited free-floating text boxes.
Can I move the captions around?
Yes. Drag a caption to reposition it, pull a corner to resize it, or use the size slider to scale both at once.
Can I make several memes at once?
Yes. Add a batch of images and caption each one (the style carries over, the words are per image), then download them individually or as a ZIP.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The meme is drawn in your browser and the image never leaves your device, so even a private in-joke stays between you and whoever you send it to.
