Why watermark an image?
If you share photos online, a watermark is how you keep your name on them. Stamp your handle across a photo before it goes on social media, mark a proof as a preview, or put a logo on product shots so they stay recognisably yours when they get reposted. It's a visible claim of authorship that travels with the picture. Use text or a logo. For text, type your name or handle, pick from a range of fonts, then set the size, colour, opacity and angle. For a logo, upload an image (a PNG with a transparent background works best) and size it to taste. Place the mark in a corner or the centre, drag it exactly where you want, or tile it across the whole image so it can't simply be cropped out. Save as JPG, PNG or WebP. Everything is done in your browser, so your photos and your logo are never uploaded. Keep in mind this is a visible watermark, a deterrent rather than a lock: it marks the image as yours but won't stop a determined editor from painting it out.
How do I add a watermark to a photo online for free?
Add either a text watermark (your name or handle in your chosen font, colour and opacity) or a logo image, then place it in a corner, drag it anywhere, or tile it across the whole photo at any angle before saving as JPG, PNG or WebP. It all happens in your browser, so the photo and logo are never uploaded.
