New Zealand Passport Photo Requirements (DIA)

The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) requires a printed photo of 35 mm wide by 45 mm tall. (When you renew online, you can instead upload a digital photo that meets the DIA's rules.) This tool produces the exact 35 × 45 mm proportions: 413 × 531 px at 300 DPI, or 827 × 1063 px at 600 DPI. Background (an important difference): • New Zealand's DIA requires a plain, light background that is explicitly NOT white. A light grey or off-white is the accepted choice. • So photograph yourself against a light grey background and use "Fill" to keep that real background. Avoid "Fit", which pads with white, not an accepted New Zealand background.
