UK Passport Photo Requirements (HM Passport Office)

HM Passport Office accepts two formats: a printed photo measuring 35 mm wide by 45 mm tall, or a digital photo uploaded during an online application. The digital photo must be at least 600 × 750 px and between 50 KB and 10 MB. This tool outputs 600 × 750 px, the online minimum. Official requirements (GOV.UK): • Printed size: 35 × 45 mm; digital: at least 600 × 750 px, 50 KB–10 MB, JPEG • Background: plain light grey or cream (NOT pure white) with no pattern or texture • Head height: 29–34 mm from the crown of your head to your chin • Plain expression, mouth closed (no smiling), both eyes open and visible • Taken within the last month, no shadows, glare or red-eye • No head covering (unless worn for religious or medical reasons) About the background: • Because the UK requires a light grey or cream background, photograph yourself against one and use "Fill". That keeps your real background. • Avoid "Fit", which pads with white; pure white is not an accepted UK background.
